A shooting in Bridgeport is the city's fifth homicide of 2019, police say.
Dyshon Williams, 19, of Bridgeport was shot and killed Monday, according to police. He was found near Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School Monday night.
Police responded around 10:45 p.m. after the ShotSpotter system detected a shooting. Once authorities arrived, they found a car parked in the north parking lot of the school with bullet holes and what appeared to be blood inside, but the victim was not immediately found.
Officers searched the area and eventually found Williams nearby.
"It looks like he was shot inside the vehicle, came out of the vehicle, he ran, jumped over a fence and collapsed somewhere near the fire department," says Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez.
Perez says there is clear surveillance video of the incident, and he is confident an arrest will be made soon.
Perez declined to comment on the motive behind the shooting.
The shooting follows two killings in Bridgeport last week -- a woman was gunned down through a window in her home and a man who died several days after getting shot outside his truck-driving school.
