Fire tears through multifamily home in Norwalk, leaving 3 families displaced

A fire ripped through a multifamily home on Soundview Avenue Sunday morning, leaving three Norwalk families displaced.
Fire officials say they were called to the scene just before 11 a.m.
They say the house's elevated foundation and cramped back staircase presented challenges when putting out the flames.
News 12 is told that the third floor and attic were gutted by the flames and faced significant damage, deeming the home uninhabitable. The first floor was also ravaged by water damage.
"Fire's never a good timing for anybody, but always on the holidays, it just strikes you a little more," says Deputy Chief Albe Bassett.
There were no reported injuries.
