People in Milford say they are outraged by several acts of vandalism at nearby cemeteries.
They say the staff at King's Highway Cemetery does such a great job with the upkeep that it was shock when they saw 30 headstones knocked over Friday morning.
Ray Scholl, whose crews take care of the cemetery, says he thinks it happened Thursday night. He also says 19 headstones at Milford Cemetery were broken in half.
Mayor Ben Blake says Milford Cemetery is the longest continuously running cemetery for veterans in the entire country.
"This is really sad," Blake said. "It's something that our police department takes very serious. They are investigating. There is an active investigation going on right now."
The mayor and the Cemetery Association say this is something that affects the whole community, especially the families that are involved.
Police say they also found evidence of vandalism inside a church in Milford, but say they are not sure if the incidents are connected. The pastor of the church told News 12 police made an arrest in that case.
Milford police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
