Milford company celebrates being part of man’s first steps on the moon

A company from Milford is being praised for creating Neil Armstrong's helmet when he took the first steps on the moon.
Air-Lock Inc. a manufacturing facility, also created the valves for the helmet, which kept air and water flowing to the Apollo 11 crew in the harsh lunar atmosphere.
Saturday marked the 50th anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon.
Air-Lock continues to create parts for current spacesuits, and hopes to do so in the future.
Connecticut leaders got a look at Air-Lock's latest projects on Monday.
"This company helped put a man on the moon," says Sen. Richard Blumenthal. "How exciting!"
NASA is looking at a new lunar mission by 2024 and Gov. Ned Lamont says he thinks the state could play a lead role.
"Look where we are on aerospace; look where we are on advanced manufacturing," says Gov. Lamont. "Look at the skill sets that Connecticut brings to the table."
