‘Jersey Shore’ star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has been released from the Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, New York after completing an eight-month sentence for tax evasion.
The 38-year-old reality TV star was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion and admitted concealing his income in 2011 by making cash deposits in amounts that wouldn't trigger federal reporting requirements.
A federal judge had sentenced the star shortly after his brother, Marc Sorrentino, received a two-year sentence on a similar charge.
At his sentencing last fall, Sorrentino told the judge he was trying to overcome years of drug and alcohol abuse.
Sorrentino married his wife, Lauren, back in November.
He is a Manalapan High School graduate and lives in Long Branch.
He appeared on all six original seasons of the reality show from 2009 to 2012.
AP wire services helped contribute to this report.
