Local high school soccer coach Wayne Mones is getting back in the game a week after suffering a massive heart attack
Mones has led the Notre Dame of Fairfield girls' soccer team to two state titles in his six years and is shooting for a third.
But shortly after the game last Thursday, Mones was feeling a heaviness in his chest.
He drove himself to St. Vincent's Medical Center, where doctors say he's lucky the game didn't go to overtime because he would have died on the field.
The school welcomed Mones back Tuesday.
"The cardiologist gave me full clearance, no restrictions and I think I feel better than I have in any time in the last 10 years," says Mones who plans to coach his team's state semifinal game Wednesday.
