Bridgeport woman to get wheelchair accessible van for disabled daughter

A Bridgeport woman is about to get a wheelchair accessible van for her disabled daughter thanks to some help from News 12 Connecticut and a local nonprofit.
Iris Colon's 9-year-old daughter has cerebral palsy. She reached out to News 12 Connecticut several months ago saying her car broke down.
Colon, 45, said she had no way of getting her daughter, Yanaila Reyes, to her medical appointments.
She says she is Reyes' around-the-clock caregiver since her daughter cannot speak.
"I can't be comfortable out there knowing that somebody else is taking care of her because I know how she is," Colon says.
News 12 Connecticut contacted Joe Kaliko at the Needs Clearing House, who worked with the Greenwich nonprofit "Ride for Kids" to get the family a low mileage wheelchair accessible van.
"I was so excited. I kept talking to her. I was like, 'we're going to have a van,'" Colon says. "Oh my God, it's going to be so easy for us to get around."
Kaliko says there's no greater joy than helping people with disabilities and their caregivers.
Colon and Reyes are expected to get their car on Christmas Day.
