A Westport resident was honored Friday for his volunteerism.

Jack Klinge was celebrated during a ceremony at the Westport Center for Senior Activities for his 30 plus years of commitment and service to the town.

He is a longtime RTM Member, organized events at the senior center and is a former basketball and baseball coach.

Klinge says he's grateful to be recognized by the place he's called home for last 50 years.

"I do have a long list of things I work on for long number of years. But it seems like I always find time for it. So when I volunteer for something, it's not for a year or week, it's for 25 or 30 years and I never find like I'm overloaded or can't find time for more one," he says.

Professionally, Klinge worked in consumer marketing at General Foods and invented stovetop stuffing. He was also part of the marketing team for Arm & Hammer and says he is the reason people have baking soda in their refrigerators.

Klinge additionally worked in the marketing departments of Topps Sports Card and Score.
