No signal: Widespread data, network issues frustrate customers in wake of Isaias

Cellular customers have been dealing with widespread data service and network issues since Isaias ravaged the region on Tuesday.
The outage is also causing delays at delis and gas stations as credit card machines and fueling stations are declining credit and debit card transactions.
The “cash only” stores have put some customers looking to stock up on essentials, such as ice, in a heightened state of frustration three days after the tropical storm.
An AT&T spokesperson says more than 97% of their network is up and running. Their team deployed 427 generators in the region with more to be sent out.
Verizon released a statement saying in part that crews restored a fiber ring and cell sites in the Danbury area and "continue to deploy mobile cell sites and portable generators in these areas as our crews work 24 x 7 to restore service. Our refueling efforts for permanent generators are also ongoing, as commercial power outages continue."
Fairfield officials are letting residents know that public Wi-Fi is now available at all Fairfield middle and high school parking lots for those eager to get a connection. Stamford schools are providing similar accommodations.
