A stranded seal in Milford is beginning to attract attention from neighbors and photographers.
The adult male seal has been between the sandbar and Charles Island for two days and is assumed to be in good health. Animal control and the rescue team from the Mystic Aquarium say the seal appears to be resting and in no direct danger.
Marine biologists say everyone should stay at least 100 yards away from the stranded seal.
?They may be harboring some disease that you would certainly not want to get,? says Marine biologist John Lenzycki. ?They are a federally protected animal and that?s the bottom line.?
The aquarium says it's checking on the seal every day, as is Milford Animal Control, but the seal could survive for months without eating.
