Stratford High School is set to undergo some major changes as plans to renovate the school were finalized.
Stratford's town council approved a new design for the high school Monday night. In the fall of next year, work will begin on a new three-story tower with 34 classrooms. When it's complete, students will move into the new building, and workers can tear down the existing school.
Originally, the town was going to just renovate Stratford High School, but when the state kicked in more money, it decided to completely rebuild the facility.
The project is expected to be complete in 2020. Superintendent Janet Robinson says only one part of the current school will remain.
