Coming off the success of the Stratford Police Department's Random Acts of Kindness campaign, the department is now working on other ways to further build community relations.
During the campaign, officers would walk up to individuals and hand them gift cards instead of tickets. One woman at a Wal-Mart broke down into tears when she received her gift.
The department also received a grant from Target to allow 50 Stratford families spend $100 on Christmas gifts.
Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour says he wants to build on relationships with the community and show people the department cares as tensions run high across the country with other police departments.
Ridenhour says he wants to continue the Random Acts of Kindness campaign next holiday season and is working on more programs to help children.
