The lights were out overnight on one of the borough's busiest highways, creating a potentially dangerous situation for motorists.
It was pitch black on the Major Deegan Expressway, aside from other headlights, after all street lamps went out between East 223rd Street and Fordham Road.
Drivers started complaining of the problem at around 10 p.m. Thursday. Many say they called 311 because it made travel on either side of the roadway difficult and unsafe.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation to find out if the lights will be restored in time for the next evening commute, but has not yet heard back.
