An art project by a group of students in Morris Heights was unveiled at Roberto Clemente State Park.

Four acrylic murals painted by second- and third-grade students from P.S. 274 were presented at a ceremony last week at the park.

The work is the result of 16 weeks of after-school efforts by the students as part of the Green Arts program.

The program, sponsored by the Bronx Children's Museum and the New York state Office of Parks, aims to decorate the park's main entrance while it undergoes a $35 million renovation to better protect the waterfront against storms.

"By combining the natural sciences, literacy and the arts together, the children have developed a newfound knowledge of the Harlem River that has really developed an appreciation for the park, the environment and their community," says Natalie Wood, program director of the Bronx Children's Museum.

The murals will be permanently installed at the park once renovations are complete in 2017.
