Hair stylists protested against the planned reopening of salons on May 20 in Hartford Monday, despite Gov. Ned Lamont's move to push salon reopenings to June.
The group that organized the protest, CT Stylists for Late Stage Openings, says it's grateful to have been recognized but wants more information and an even later reopening date. The Facebook group now has 3,600 members.
Other salon owners say they're upset about the change just two days before May 20. They say they spent weeks getting their salons ready to open.
Lamont apologized to them during a press conference Monday, and says he wanted to get their peers back up and running and make sure employees felt confident to start working again.
Republican state Senate leader Len Fasanso criticized the timing of the decision, saying it was based on politics and not science.
