Suffolk County police arrested a Huntington Station woman for allegedly operating a "fully functioning" dentist office at a home in Bay Shore.
Police said Yolany Mejia Carranza, 55, performed dental work without a license at 1847 Heckscher Ave.
Police searched the home along with the Islip town fire marshal and building inspector Thursday.
Detectives also believe Mejia Carranza previously operated another illegal dental business at 135 Broadway in Huntington Station.
Police charged Mejia Carranza with three counts of unauthorized practice of a profession.
“She injured several patients and in one case caused severe nerve damage, which lead to partial facial paralysis,” said Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina
Carranza was arraigned Friday afternoon and was allowed out on supervised release. She pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Anyone with information or who believes they are a victim is asked to contact the Third Squad at 631- 854-8352 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
Last December, Nassau County police charged a Hempstead woman for practicing unlicensed dentistry out of her apartment kitchen.
