Summer camps will begin to open in just under two weeks, and with a number of new safety protocols and less activities.
Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA in Monroe's popular Camp Teepee has a lot to offer, but organizers say this year will be a little different because of the coronavirus.
Campers can still expect activities like swimming, boating, arts and crafts, story time, archery, but there will be less activities.
"We need to allow more time in between groups to make sure everything is cleaned," Connecticut Coast YMCA Vice President Tim Bartlett says.
At other Ys like the one in Fairfield, camps will take place on the grounds instead of at schools.
Under state protocol, Bartlett says all seven of the association's camps will see fewer campers with no more than 10 in a group.
"We may have sing-offs instead, where one camp group is over there and the other camp group is over there, and they'll see who can sing louder," Bartlett says.
Masks are recommended, but not required for campers. Campers will have their temperature taken at the start of each day.
