The superintendent of Region 9 schools in Easton and Redding is apologizing to parents for opening schools on time during Friday morning's snowfall.
Superintendent Bernard Josefsberg sent an email to parents saying that he made the wrong call.
The district, like many others in southwestern Connecticut, chose not to have a delay, and as a result many buses were stuck on the roads during the height of the snow.
Some buses did not arrive at school until nearly 9:30 a.m.
The superintendent says the decision was made with all the possible information at the time, but it turned out to be the wrong one.
Danbury Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Sal Pascarella says it can be very difficult to decide what to do when winter weather strikes. He says though he originally called for a two-hour delay in his district, he eventually canceled school altogether.
Pascarella says he checks with other local superintendents, a meteorologist and transportation officials when deciding whether or not to open schools on time.
Josefsberg was not available to speak with News 12 on Friday.
