Members of the March for Education Foundation rallied Thursday at Bridgeport's City Hall to urge Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz to keep her post.
Earlier this month, Rabinowitz said she would step down at the end of December, citing a conflict with school board member Maria Pereira.
She says Pereira has bullied other members and obstructed board business in order to push her own agenda.
Supporters say Bridgeport schools need leadership to work together, and they want Rabinowitz to stay.
Rabinowitz released a statement saying she is deeply moved by the show of support and will give serious thought to the request for her to stay.
