Surveillance video shows the moment thieves stole cars from a Bridgeport dealership during the nor'easter, the owner says.
The theft happened at Guarantee Approval Motors on E. Main Street in Black Rock around 6 a.m. Saturday, as a nor'easter was slamming the region.
Police say thieves used a Jeep to push cars off the lot before stealing them and a safe from inside the business.
Owner Tarek Abouzeid says the safe contained cash and dozens of car titles.
Abouzeid says without the titles, he cannot sell the cars attached to them and that it could take more than a month to replace.
He says he is a hard-working father and business owner, and now his taxes are due, and he stuck with a whole inventory of vehicles he can't sell for at least 30 days.
"Sadly we found this happening and it was like everybody's closed but we were determined to do business," Abouzeid added. "We're trying to be on top of our payment -- our tax payment."
Abouzeid is offering a cash reward for anyone who has information that leads to an arrest. He says there will be no questions asked, and that he just wants to get back to his normal routine of serving the community, making a living, and supporting his family, none of which he says has been easy during the pandemic.
"The hard money we've been trying to put together -- and that's the sad part. We feel really bad about it."
Anybody with information about the case is asked to call (203) 335-9355.
