The man accused of striking and killing a woman with his SUV last month in Stamford turned himself in Wednesday and went before a judge.
Police say 32-year-old Victor Medina-Fajardo fell asleep while driving and went over a yellow line when he hit 34-year-old Angela Lopez and her husband, Rafael Escobar. Lopez and Escobar were putting gas in their food truck at the intersection of Hope and Hyde streets.
Police say Lopez died during surgery at the hospital. Escobar was not seriously hurt.
Medina-Fajardo was arraigned in Stamford. His attorney, Darnell Crosland, says his client was not distracted, nor had he been drinking or using drugs at the time of the crash.
