Midnight is the deadline for those filing state and federal taxes.
All post offices in southwestern Connecticut closed at 5 p.m.
For those who couldn't get there in time, experts advise filing electronically on the IRS website, which is free, or using the TurboTax website.
Taxpayers who need more time to gather their information are advised to file for a six-month extension.
