A tax expert is accusing the state Department of Revenue Services of being slow to send out refund checks this year.
Charlie Coviello, of Bridgeport, says 23 of his 200 clients have complained to him about not yet receiving their refunds, even though some have been waiting for more than two months. Coviello, who is also a member of the Democratic Town Committee, says he has been preparing taxes for 25 years and has never seen so many complaints.
"There's a lot of people that depend on that tax refund to do various different things," he said. "You know, people don't like to pay for things or charge things, so therefore they put it off until [they receive their] tax refund, so what that's doing is hurting a lot of people, especially the poor people."
News 12 reached out to The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for comment and is awaiting a response.
