A Woodbridge teenager and football hero killed in a car wreck this week was laid to rest Saturday.
Salvatore Semmonella, 17, died Monday in a car crash along Wilbur Parkway. Semmonella and his close friend Francesk Zefi, 18, lost control of their car as it veered off an exit ramp and crashed into a sign and tree. Both teenagers died as a result of the accident.
Teammates from Amity Regional High School's football team served as pallbearers after Semmonella's funeral mass at Holy Infant Church, carrying the casket of their team leader.
"He was a great captain," said one teammate.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the accident.
