An 18-year-old Stamford resident has died after a motorcycle crash near Rippowam Middle School in Stamford.

Police said the crash happened at about 8:28 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of High Ridge and Loveland roads.

Investigators said the teen was operating a 2000 BMW motorcycle northbound on High Ridge Road with another 18-year-old Stamford resident as a passenger. A 61-year-old Stamford resident was driving a 2024 Toyota RAV4 southbound on High Ridge Road.

Police said the Toyota was turning onto Loveland Road when it was struck by the motorcycle.

The motorcycle operator suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 9:50 p.m. despite lifesaving efforts.

The passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Toyota driver and another occupant were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are withholding the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.
