Tenants living in a Bronx complex say they are dealing with a rat infestation.

Residents at 440 East 138th St. say the problem has been ongoing. They claim the rats make holes through garbage cans, in front doors and through the ground.

Several tenants say they have complained to management and called 311 countless times, but nothing has been done. They also say the problem is worse during the evenings.

A Department of Health spokesperson says that they have received the complaints and will conduct an inspection. If there is evidence of rat activity, they say they will instruct the owner to take any necessary corrective actions or face violations.

A person claiming to be with the management company told News 12 that they are aware of the rat problem and are working on it.
