Despite the high temperatures, the Bridgeport Fire Department conducted a live burn training at Seaside Park Thursday as part of their upcoming
recruitment drive.
The live burn will be featured in a commercial that is expected to air in July.
Firefighters tell News 12 the live burn and hot weather are seen as good training tools.
"The heat plays a really big part in what we do and although we try not to train that often in temperatures above 85 degrees, the reality is we're not in control of when an actual fire takes place," says Capt. Montique Pettway-Moore.
The drive will be launched on July 22.
Bridgeport residents are encouraged to apply.
