A well-known Monroe restaurant is finding new ways to stay in business during the coronavirus pandemic.
Maureen Hanley bought the The Smithy, which has been in the community for 47 years, just two and a half weeks before the pandemic hit.
Her nearly 30 years of financial experience has been helpful as The Smithy transitioned to takeout service and delivery.
"Our older patrons were very grateful that we did takeout because they miss The Smithy so much," Hanley says. "Many of them are still a little fearful about coming out. I can assure you, we have the highest sanitary standards here."
The eatery added a patio with heaters, Tiki Torches and AstroTurf. They also offer live music on Sundays, and movie nights on Fridays.
The Smithy is located on Main Street and is opened Tuesday through Sunday.
