The murder trial of Paul Caneiro resumed Tuesday, after losing a day last week due to a sick juror.

Paul Caneiro is accused of killing his brother, Keith Caneiro, and Keith's wife and children in 2018 at their Colts Neck home.

Jurors heard testimony from Paul Caneiro’s alleged mistress and more emotional testimony from first responders. But the day led off with a disturbing 911 call made by Keith Caneiro’s neighbor who discovered his lifeless body.

Dr. Boris Volshteyn called 911 after his landscaper alerted him that smoke was coming from Keith Caneiro’s Colts Neck home. That call was played in court.

“Oh my God, there's blood here. It's a corpse. It's dead! Somebody is dead here,” said Volshteyn to the dispatcher.

Following the testimony from Volshteyn, Paul Caneiro’s alleged mistress, Giselle Restrepo, testified she once attended a shooting range with Paul, using his gun. She was also asked about vacations paid for by Paul Caneiro.

“You talked about going to Colombia twice with Caneiro. Anywhere else with Caneiro? Carolina Norte, Las Vegas, Boston,” said Restrepo.

Adelphia volunteer firefighter Carmelo Lamarca told jurors he was called in to assist Colts Neck departments in the mansion fire the afternoon of Nov. 20. He became emotional when recounting the moments he discovered 8-year-old Sophia's body inside the house.

“I felt her…I grabbed the legs and [someone else] grabbed her arms and carried her out,” Lamarca testified. The defense questioned lead Colts Neck Detective Rich Zarrillo about his questioning of the third brother, Corey Caneiro, and why he didn’t subpoena cellphone records.

“At that point, any efforts to additionally investigate Corey?” the defense attorney asked, to which Zarillo responded, “No.”

Prosecutors quickly responded, “Was there any physical evidence connecting Corey Caneiro to either of the crime scenes?”

Zarillo responded that there wasn’t any.

Home security videos played in court show a light-colored car leaving Paul Caneiro's neighborhood just after 2 a.m., and a similar-looking vehicle driving near Keith's home 20 minutes later. More video from the same sources shows a light-colored vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, arriving back in Paul Caneiro's neighborhood about two hours later.

Court resumes Wednesday morning.
