Two barges wash ashore Woodmont beach in Milford

The Coast Guard says at 3:30 p.m., two 140-foot hopper barges broke free from their designated mooring during the inclement weather and drifted five miles to the beach where they washed ashore.

Two barges washed up on the shore on Woodmont beach in Milford Thursday, fire officials say.
Officials with United States Coast Guard say because of the weather, it's dangerous to try and move them.
Both barges are empty.
The Coast Guard says at 3:30 p.m., two 140-foot hopper barges broke free from their designated mooring during the inclement weather and drifted five miles to the beach where they washed ashore.
No injuries have been reported.
The owner of the barges is working to have them salvaged and refloated.
People are asked not to approach the barge.
