Torrington police: Video shows altercation that led to stabbing; teen arrested

Torrington police say an 18-year-old girl from Torrington was charged with breach of peace and assault after a juvenile was stabbed during an altercation.

Officers say they were responding to a report that on Turner Avenue about an argument involving 7-10 juveniles.

When they got to the scene, a juvenile was identified with a stab wound and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury for a non-life-threatening injury and later released.

Police say video footage from a nearby business showed 18-year-old Nyema Oneal-Rivas and a juvenile, physically hitting each other before Oneal-Rivas stabbed him.

Police say they later found a small-folding knife on her property but added that it's unclear if it was used during the altercation.

Nyema is being held on a $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Torrington Court today.
