Crowds of people waited at Westchester County Airport for hours Sunday as snow caused flights to be delayed or diverted.
Travelers say they were halted at the security checkpoint as snow began sticking at the airport.
"I think they're trying to clear the runways but they haven't been telling us," said Mark Urso. "When I got in--the gates, the pre-check line was closed down. They weren't letting us through."
Icy and snowy conditions wouldn't allow planes to land so they were forced to circle the area until the snow and ice could be removed.
Many flights were diverted to Boston, JFK and Philadelphia.
Some people, like David Orsini, are scrambling to get to their destinations.
"I need to be in Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow in court," Orsini. "I'm heading the case so I need to be there."
Others say they are switching their flights to avoid the storm in the area.
However, flights going down to Atlanta, Charlotte and Palm Beach are experiencing delays.
