Tenants of a Tremont apartment building say that living conditions in their building are a hazard.
The building, located on 1120 Clay Ave., has a broken elevator and a heating pipe so hot that it melts paint off the wall, according to some angry tenants.
Elizabeth Watson, a 35-year resident of the building, has been confined to her fifth-floor apartment while the elevator has been broken. She says it took four years to get building management to repair a cracked window and fix a leaky ceiling.According to Watson, it wasn?t until her daughter wrote a letter to News 12 the Bronx that building management finally fixed the problems. Watson hopes to move into a safer second-floor apartment.
Neighbors say that one tenant is suing the management company for burn injuries, which they say is a result of the faulty heating pipe in the hallway.
Calls made to the building?s management company by News 12 were not returned.
