A Stratford business owner is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he left a dog tied up outside his shop with no access to water.
Police found the dog tied up outside Maxi's Autobody on Honeyspot Road after somebody called to complain. They say they found the dog filthy, unresponsive and suffering from severe dehydration. The dog was brought to a veterinarian, but was unable to be saved and was euthanized Tuesday.
The shop's owner, Trevor Maximim, told News 12 Connecticut off camera that he found the dog two days ago and was trying to nurse it back to health. However, police say the dog had no access to water.
Maximim was charged with animal cruelty.
