An out-of-control pickup truck smashed into a gas vault along River Road in Shelton on Monday.
The red truck went through a grassy area, hit the gas vault and then another car. Both cars then flipped over.
Gas began to leak, and it took firefighters more than two hours to douse it with water to keep it from igniting.
A diner was evacuated, along with a family who lives in a nearby house.
The drivers were able to escape their vehicles unharmed. Utility crews arrived to fix the damage.
Nothing caught fire and no one was injured in the accident.
