A Westport guitar player has been wowing local crowds onstage with his band for a while. Fans and fellow musicians say it?s not just his playing style that impresses them, it?s his skill in spite of his unique disability.
Merritt Jacob has just two fingers on the hand he strums with. Those who have seen Jacob play say his ability to have crowds appreciate his talent before they notice his disability is what makes him truly remarkable.
Jacob started playing guitar as a child with his friend Dylan Connor, the eponymous founder of the band. As the Dylan Connor Band plays around Bridgeport, members say they notice audience members do double takes when they notice Jacob?s disability.
Jacob says he's just a musician at heart and that his fingers just followed the way.
