Two women were robbed at gunpoint outside of a school in Fairfield Wednesday, police say.
The incident happened outside of the Southport School in the area of Main Street around 7:30 a.m.
Police say the two women, who are employees of the school, parked their cars before walking to the school when they were both approached by a man. The women reported that the man had a gun and demanded they hand over their phones and bags.
The women complied and then ran into the Southport School, which was briefly placed into a “secure school” condition until police were able to clear the area.
The suspect was described as a Black man in his late teens or early 20s, clean shaven, wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and baggy dark denim jeans.
Police say the suspect was seen running toward Harbor Road where it is believed he got into a car and left.
