World Kindness Day is Saturday, but the United Way of coastal Fairfield County is reminding everyone that every day is an opportunity to be kind.

United Way had a T-Rex hand out hugs and gift cards at two locations Friday as a way to surprise residents.

World Kindness Day was started in 1998 by a coalition of non-government organizations across the globe.

The goal is to promote the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself and to the world.
