Just weeks before a new semester begins, the University of Bridgeport is making some major changes.
The school says its 14 academic departments will be organized into one of three colleges. The first being Arts and Sciences, the second Engineering, Business and Education and finally Health Sciences.
Each school will have a single dean.
The university says a modest number of job cuts were made, but no programs were eliminated.
The changes were made to create a more intimate space for students to learn and grow, according to university officials. It also will save money that they plan to reinvest back into the school.
