University of New Haven utilizes on-campus gun-detection technology in wake of Charlie Kirk assassination

Following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, one local college says it has safeguards in place that could have prevented a similar situation from happening.
For the past year, the University of New Haven has been using an AI-gun detection system called ZeroEyes.
It's hooked up to existing security cameras on campus.
“If there's a gun detected on campus," UNH police chief Adam Brown says, "we know within seconds."
The ZeroEyes operations center in Pennsylvania is staffed 24/7 with specially trained U.S. military and law enforcement veterans.
"It gives us a clear picture of the person and of the weapon itself," Chief Brown says. "The system then starts tracking the person if they start moving around on campus, so we can immediately intervene."
The University of New Haven has been utilizing the technology for the past year.
It was one of the first colleges in the country, and the first in Connecticut to implement it.
“It’s really important that students, faculty and staff are allowed to come here in an open environment where they shouldn’t have to worry about some of these other issues going around in the United States," says Chief Brown.
