The U.S. Attorney's Office said Thursday the son of the missing Easton couple, Kyle Navin, will not be in federal court Friday as initially reported. Officials were to determine if Navin can be released from custody, and under what conditions. But a spokeman for the U.S. Attorney's office says Navin will not appear in court, and a future date for his apparence has not been scheduled yet.
Federal prosecutors charged Navin Tuesday with illegally possessing guns. Navin has not been charged in connection with his parents' disappearance, but the former prosecutor says that may change.
Navin was named a person of interest in the case of his missing parents, Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin. Police say family members reported the couple missing Aug. 4. State police say a truck belonging to the couple was located at a commuter lot off of Route 15 in Westport.
Information gathered from text messages and tracking the missing couple's cellphones led investigators to search Navin's house, where they say they found guns and drugs. He was charged with possession of firearms by a person using or addicted to a controlled substance.
Navin's attorney is not commenting on the case.
