The U.S. Postal Service has announced a major service overhaul aimed at cutting billions in costs.
Under the proposal, first-class mail, which normally takes one to two days to reach its destination, could now take up to three days.
The postal service would also close nearly half of its sorting facilities, including the processing center located in Stamford.
Postal officials say the plan could save the service up to $2.1 billion, but customers say the cuts will cause them inconvenience.
Also in question is where the 130 employees of the Stamford processing center will be assigned to next.
