Bridgeport police held a gun buyback program on Saturday in the city’s North End.
Among the weapons turned in at the event at the Police Department's Community Services Division were an Uzi and a MAC-10, which they say have both been outlawed.
"Gun buy backs are one of the most effective ways, proven nationally as well as here in Bridgeport, to stop gun violence," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
President Joe Biden supports a federal buyback program but there is not a lot of research that shows they actually reduce violence.
