Police in Norwalk are looking for the vandals who spray-painted the word 'shame' across an LGBTQ banner at Matthews Park in Norwalk.
The banner was part of the Pride in Park event that's set for this weekend. The Triangle Community Center, the group organizing the event, sent pictures to News 12 of the damaged banner that also had a cigarette sized hole burned into one of the performer's faces.
Police believe the incident happened Tuesday night.
Members of the Triangle Community Center were shocked.
"Quite frankly I pity them," said Sean-Michael Hazuda. "Imagine the sad life that they have that from doing something hateful they draw a sense of self-worth. That's a really sad way to live your life."
Norwalk police say they will have more security on hand at this weekend's event.
