Vanessa Roberts Avery confirmed as state’s first Black woman US attorney

Vanessa Roberts Avery has been confirmed as the state's first Black woman U.S. Attorney for Connecticut.
Roberts was confirmed Wednesday by the Senate by a voice vote.
She will serve a term of four years.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal wrote in a Tweet, "Vanessa Avery is a proven prosecutor, a thoughtful leader, and a champion for CT’s people. She is a dedicated and diligent public servant with broad experiences across the legal profession that will no doubt inform and inspire her work as U.S. Attorney."
Avery is from New Haven.
