A group dedicated to empowering veterans spent their Saturday honoring those who lost their lives serving their country as part of Memorial Day weekend.
The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 gathered at a memorial at Milford Cemetery, located across from St. Mary's Church on Gulf Street.
Group members say it is important to remember all fallen veterans and to thank them for the freedoms they allowed citizens to have.
"The heroes are the ones that did not make it home, so it's all for them," said Debbie Guinee, of Disabled American Veterans.
The group says it also placed American flags at the grave sites of veterans in the cemetery.
