Friends and family of a Bridgeport man killed last week in a hit-and-run crash held a vigil Sunday afternoon before walking across the city in an effort to raise money for his funeral service.
Kyle Williams, 22, was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Park Avenue last Saturday. Police say a driver, who had sped up to beat a red light, hit Williams in the intersection and fled the scene. Police are looking for the driver of a light-colored Acura.
The vigil took place at North Avenue and Park Avenue. About 100 loved ones then walked to Seaside Park.
The family says the wake and funeral will take place later this week. A fundraising website has been set up to help pay the costs of his burial.
Williams was a father of two boys.
