A letter has been sent home to parents in Wilton informing them of viral meningitis at the high school.
The nursing staff says two students have come down with the infection in the past two weeks. The letter explains in detail that viral meningitis is an infection of the covering of the brain and spinal cord that can be spread by coughing and sneezing, among other things.
It advises parents to see a doctor if their child shows symptoms of a fever, headache, stiff neck, red rash or nausea. Students are advised to be extra careful around anyone they know who had the virus and to keep their hands clean.
News 12 Connecticut's calls to health officials Thursday were not returned.
