Thousands of volunteers from across the borough gathered Saturday to revitalize 26 local schools as a part of the 17th annual New York City Cares Day.
Corporate volunteers and Bronx students hit the schools early in the morning, paintbrushes in hand, to spruce up classrooms, paint murals and hallways, and plant gardens.
According to administrators at I.S 192, even smaller endeavors like reorganizing libraries and sorting through textbooks will make a lot of difference.
Besides giving schools makeovers, participants of the annual community service day also raise funds toward hosting next year?s revitalization day, as well as toward other New York Cares volunteer programs that are conducted throughout the year.
