The West Redding Fire Department held an open house Sunday to give residents the chance to see what goes on behind the scenes, and hopefully, spark some interest in volunteering.
The open house took place at the beginning of National Volunteer Week.
"It's just a great opportunity for people to come out and interact with the firefighters and EMTs who support their community all year long, and see if this is something for them,” says West Redding Fire Department Chief Glenn Johnson.
Future firefighters of all ages got to take a ride in the truck, explore the ambulance and play in a bouncy house.
The fire department hosts the event every year and has been successful in getting volunteers in the past.
